As a full-time human rights adviser, tasks will include:

Assist in ensuring timely implementation of the work plan developed for DIHR's work in Uganda.
Assist DIHR staff and consultants hired for specific project inputs in carrying out research for the planned context/stakeholder analysis and project baseline.
Provide substance input and other types of technical assistance to the partner in own areas of expertise when relevant.
Provide assistance in planning and organizing trainings, workshops, events, DIHR staff missions etc.
Ensure regular communication with DIHR's current and potential partners in Uganda, including ensuring timely delivery of reports, documents etc. from partners.
Support DIHR in establishing and maintaining a branch office Providing DIHR with strategic insights regarding contextual challenges, the human rights situation and funding opportunities in Uganda.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

A relevant university degree Law, Human Rights, Political Science, or related fields.
5-10 years of experience in the field of human rights for BA and 5 years of experience in the field of human rights for MA.
Strong technical knowledge of human rights in the Ugandan context is essential.
Experience working with or supporting state actors with a human rights mandate in Uganda is considered a strong asset.
Solid experience with development and implementation of larger development programmes, including demonstrated skills in the utilization of a Logical Framework Approach and Theories of Change, budget follow up, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
Strong organisation skills are essential, including solid experience in engaging and facilitating processes with multiple stakeholders (local, national and international actors).
Fluency in written and oral English.
Be Ugandan national.

Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, including proven experience in developing partnerships. Prior experience of working with state partners will be considered an asset.

WORK CONDITIONS

The human rights adviser will be based in Kampala, with some travels to DIHR project areas.

Starting date: As soon as possible, and no later than 15 May 2024.
