Gerald Zihembire AHABWE is Social Development Expert with thirteen years of experience in project management. He holds an MA in Development Management from the Ruhr University Bochum and Bachelors in Social Sciences from Makerere University with numerous other hands-on trainings in Research Ethics, Scholarly Writing, Advanced Research Methods, Root Causes of Displacement in Sub Saharan Africa, Sustainable Management of Urban Water and Sanitation, Climate Change and Water Security, Corporate Governance, Effective Communication and Leadership. He is currently a PhD Fellow in the Department of Sociology under the WaSO Project, which is a consortium of 11 Universities with research projects in water, society and climate change with support from the Norwegian Council of Higher Education (NORHED).

Mr. Ahabwe previously worked at National Water & Sewerage Corporation (NWSC). He has worked on various projects in Uganda, Kenya and Nigeria. Mr. Ahabwe’s areas of expertise are in Social Safeguard Integration, Feasibility Studies, Stakeholder Mapping and Communication Strategy, Impact Assessments, Mid Term Reviews, Socio-Economic Surveys, Resettlement Action Plans and Performance Improvement Plans. He has also worked on projects addressing the Water-Energy-Food Nexus including Climate Change and Water Security.

Apart from being a Mentor at the MasterCard Foundation Programme at Makerere University, Mr. Ahabwe is also the General Secretary of Uganda Sociologists and Anthropologists Association (USAA). He is also the General Secretary for Organization for Social Science Research in Eastern and Southern Africa-OSSREA (Uganda Chapter).  He is also a member of the International Water Association chairs the Board of the Association of Ugandan German Alumni.
