Founded in 1956, The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations - refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities - in more than 40 countries around the world

MMC is part of and governed by DRC. While its institutional link to DRC ensures MMC's work is grounded in operational reality, it acts as an independent source of data, research, analysis and policy development on mixed migration for policy makers, practitioners.

Overall purpose of the role:

The Information Management Coordinator (IMC) will serve as the technical focal point for MMC's data and information management (IM) activities, including data collection, analysis and visualization, development and maintenance of data management standards, coordination of data and IM activities across MMC, and providing technical support and advice to the global information management network. The IMC will process and analyse 4Mi data for the development of information and research products, create and maintain global IM products for internal and external consumption, update standard operating procedures for MMC data management and analysis, and coordinate regular meetings with regional IMOs.

The position is based in Kampala (Uganda), opened for DRC internal applicants only and is Non-accompagnied.

The role will have the following key responsibilities :

Data collection, analysis, and dissemination

Support data collection exercises across MMC regional offices, maintain standard data collection templates and operating procedures, ensure that the standards and procedures are being adhered to across the MMC;
Provide quality control for data collection forms across regions; upon request, draft and review XLSForms for the surveys;
Oversee and assure quality of data validation and cleaning; update and maintain related standard operating procedures.
Conduct quantitative analysis of 4Mi data, including data validation and cleaning according to standards; The quantitative analysis will mostly include descriptive statistics, occasionally IMC might also be required to conduct inferential statistics (see the MMC website for examples of 4Mi data analysis products);
Communicate the results by creating data visualizations, both static and interactive (mostly PowerBI), including maps (mostly QGIS);
Maintain and update global IM products, both internal and external (for example the 4Mi Interactive dashboard, implement changes to the dashboard's design when necessary), develop new products on request.
Information management and coordination

Ensure safe data storage, transfer and archiving according to the latest data protection standards both centrally and at the level of regional offices through coordination with the regional IMOs, harmonize data storage and management systems across the offices; develop and maintain standard procedures around data protection;
Develop data and information management systems to facilitate the coordination and data accessibility within MMC, in particular, database registry, question library;
Provide advice and technical support relation to data and information management, and analysis across the MMC network;
Lead in developing the network among information management staff across MMC, which can collaborate on projects, build capacity, and share knowledge;
Chair bi-weekly information management meetings with the regional IMOs;
Provide technical advice within the MMC's information management community.

Experience and Technical comptencies ( included years of experience )

Minimum 4 years of experience in information management/analysis;
Experience with data sharing, data management and data analysis;
Demonstrated ability to formulate technical briefs, IM strategies, SOPs, etc.;
Expertise in survey design and administration; knowledge of XLSForms;
University degree in information management, statistics, social sciences, economics, geography, or a relevant field, demanding expertise in quantitative data analysis;
Proven record in handling and processing large datasets;
Knowledge of and experience in quantitative data analysis, including regression analysis;
Knowledge of Excel and PowerBI is essential, and one of Python, R, SPSS or Stata;
Record of production of data visuals based on quantitative data;
Experience of working with international organisations in humanitarian or development contexts;
Knowledge of migration and displacement;
Experience in data collection and analysis in the field;
High level of proficiency in English, both oral and written;
