Description

As a member of the Senior Management Team s/he will direct and support activities aimed at strengthening community response and leadership with particular emphasis on increasing engagement on the part of households and youth, vulnerable populations, community-based organizations, and other partners including those from related sectors. S/he will also oversee knowledge management for the project. A key component of the position will be to establish and maintain close working relations with local partners in focus districts. Specific Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership to the project team in the design, development, and execution of approaches to strengthen community health systems and community engagement, in alignment with local priorities and the national community health strategy;
Lead project teams to develop community health strengthening implementation plans and prepare periodic program reports, as required;
Provide oversight to the project community health strengthening teams based in the regions; ensure high quality standards of technical assistance and exceptional implementation of community interventions;
Provide leadership and guidance to project teams and other stakeholders to develop and implement innovative, evidence-based interventions to improve community behaviors for promoting health and healthcare service delivery;
Lead project teams and other stakeholders to ensure that community interventions are inclusive, prioritizing needs and perspectives of vulnerable groups such as youth, and other determinants of health; eHIkPsO Dmtnpd
Advance localization through development and implementation of targeted capacity building activities for local grantees and partners;
Strengthen collaboration with community leaders, local and national stakeholders to ensure synergy in implementation and use of resources;
Foster establishment of multisectoral partnerships in focus regions in support of project and community priorities;
Work closely with the project strategic information team to produce synthesized and high-quality community data, technical and program reports as well as other reports as needed;
Contribute to documentation of project implementation experiences and quarterly review meetings for sharing and feedback on project performance to internal and external audiences;
Participate in various time-bound and standing national, regional and internal technical/programmatic working groups as assigned.
Qualifications: Required Experience & Qualifications

Master’s degree in public health, health management, community development or other relevant field;
More than ten years of professional work experience in community systems strengthening, health service delivery, health communication and behavior change;
Broad working knowledge of community structures and cultural practices in Uganda;
Capable of working with and providing strategic technical guidance to a diverse group of health service delivery partners to refine their community health approaches;
Demonstrated ability to write technical papers and reports;
