Job Purpose/Mission
The Customer Finance Team plays a pivotal role in ensuring the overall success of our largely unbanked customers in completing their loans and getting continued access to clean, reliable energy. The team works cross-functionally with our commercial, customer experience, product development, operations, marketing and technical teams on the ground to ensure that we provide all customers with successful and responsible onboarding and that we offer constant support as well as adequate monitoring and interventions all the way through the lifetime of our customers’ loans.
EEA Uganda is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Strategy & Analytics Lead to join the Customer Finance Team and he/ she will participate in the overall management of the Credit Risk at EEA Uganda by using quantitative and qualitative data to deepen our understanding of customer repayment behavior and performance across various dimensions of the portfolio and credit cycle.

The right candidate should have strong analytical capability and a passion for solving problems through a data-driven, customer-centric approach. Successful candidates will have the ability to design, implement and provide strategic direction for credit risk management and grow a team of analysts.

Responsibilities
• Lead development of the cross-functional Customer Finance Strategy, Performance Management, and action plans.
• Lead development of standard portfolio performance reports for timely Credit Risk Monitoring.

• Lead the development of cross-functional Credit Operations Reporting.

• Develop and lead a team of analysts, with full responsibility for the team’s workplan, coaching and professional development.
Customer Finance Strategy, Analytics & Innovation
• Lead Customer Finance strategic planning process including identification of main drivers, setting targets, developing action plans, and suggesting technical solutions to support EEA’s strategic objectives regarding Credit and customer repayment.
• Develop ROI tracking to measure results of suggested business strategies, initiatives, and plans.

• Collaborate with partners in other functions (Call Center, Service Center, Commercial Team, etc.) to establish performance standards and create accountability for results
• Conduct ad-hoc rigorous analysis (including statistical analysis and data modeling) to evaluate performance, to form new insights, to highlight areas for improvement, and to drive decision making.
• Produce state-of-the-art, reliable, timely and effective country portfolio performance reports for Credit Risk Monitoring.
• Lead key credit governance committees.
• Develop effective business intelligence strategies and analytics solutions for prediction of default and provisioning.
• Consolidate quantitative and qualitative inputs from our customers and other sources to fully understand the repayment performance of our customers.
• Design and implement A/B tests to identify the most powerful ways we can improve customer repayment behavior.
• Structure and implement customer insight research projects, such as mapping the financial lives of households, to deepen our understanding of what drives repayment behaviors.
• Use the data insight from the above to scale any that are effective in improving customer repayment patterns.
• Provide support on broader analytical needs of the EEA Uganda team, including analysis of pilots, interventions, sales operations, or field research work.
• Work closely with other stakeholders and data users across the company to create and maintain controls systems and review standards which ensure data quality and prevent discrepancies.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and engineers to ensure and improve data availability, integrity, accuracy, and reliability.
Team Building & Management
• Develop and lead a team of analysts, including full responsibility for coaching and their professional development.
• Manage the team’s work plan and workload to ensure delivery of agreed goals.
• Mentor the team to continuously build their critical thinking and execution skills so that they can maximize their contributions to EEA and grow with the company.

Knowledge and skills
Experience:
• 5 years minimum work experience in fields such as in data analysis, statistics, financial analysis, business analysis, or similar, particularly in sectors like retail financial services or telecommunications.
• At least 2 years of which was in a role which involved strategy development and people management.
• Exceptional analytical skills and ability to synthesize and interpret qualitative and quantitative data into practical strategy recommendations.
• Experienced building clear and insightful data visualizations with tools like (MS Excel, Tableau, Power BI, D3, ggplot, etc.),
• Able to build advanced queries using PostgreSQL, and comfortable with basics of database management and data engineering.
• Demonstrated ability working across teams and functions on technical projects.
• Keen eye for detail and thoughtful investigation of data before relying upon it.
